Stephanie Boulton

I believe healing comes from expanding our capacity for meaningful connection in our life. I take a holistic approach to counseling as there are many things that contribute to mental health, like politics, economics, culture, family and trauma that are often overlooked in health care.

My Approach

I offer a genuine, warm and non-judgmental environment. I focus on your strengths and help you look at your situation from a holistic point of view. My specialties include body acceptance, identity, attachment and healthy relationships, cultural and LGBTQIA+ issues. People often come to see me because they are finding they have learned to adapt to life in ways that sometimes aren’t working for them and feel stuck. I help clients talk through, feel and explore how and why they learned to adapt to their environment. I believe that exploring this in a safe and trusting way, can help people feel empowered to choose new ways to respond to the challenges that face them

My Background

My journey to becoming a psychotherapist was a winding road. I have had many careers in my life and lived in many places. I spent a good deal of time wandering and looking for my place. I found counseling when I finally realized I was my most happiest when I was connecting on a deep level with people and witnessing their own unique journeys in life. On a deep level, I believe our path to healing comes from learning to embrace all the parts of ourselves that scare us, and to break down our own barriers to engaging with the world in a way that is most meaningful to us. I received a Master of Counseling from Regis University in Denver. I have also worked with many different types of people in wilderness and city settings both in treatment and non-treatment environments. My experience includes people with disabilities, young offenders, LGBTQIA+ youth, and indigenous communities.
