My Approach

What became clear early on in my career was that the most important principal in counseling is the role of the therapist as a guide - a companion on a journey of healing. It is not my place to impose my way of doing things but to assist you in finding yours. That fits well with my therapeutic style, which is grounded in compassion, nurturing and respect. By using the principles of attachment theory, mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, to name a few, our work together will help you gain insight on ways to manage physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual issues. And in addition to helping you manage your challenges, you can begin the work of healing that comes from making shifts in thinking, behavior, and relationships. Healing that results in finding your way to living a more satisfying life.

My Background

This year marks my 30th year as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and during that time I enjoyed working for over 18 years in the field of oncology and hospice. The foundation of my clinical training was in working with individuals and families facing the chronic and life threatening illness of cancer. During that time, I specialized in working with children at end of life. That sacred work provided the training and expertise in working with depression, anxiety, life transitions and grief and loss. Public speaking and program development were also a part of my professional career at that time. I am trained in clinical supervision and offer pre and post licensure supervision to LCSW candidates in Colorado.
