Lindsay Olsh
MSW, NLC, AAT
I have felt a connection to animals and nature for as long as I can remember. That along with an inherent need to help others led me to finding my passion, animal-integrated therapies and counseling.

My Approach
I operate from a strengths-based perspective, believing that everyone has the ability to overcome obstacles in their lives if they are empowered and have the coping mechanisms to do so. I work within cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed therapy, experiential therapy, and animal-assisted therapy. Life is subjective and based on circumstances; we naturally respond to and draw from our environments and experiences, which are different for every individual. Once someone understands their own story, the path to where they want to be becomes much clearer, and walking that path changes from an idea to a possibility.
My Background
I received my BSW from McDaniel College, a private liberal arts school, located in Westminster, MD. Upon graduating, I knew I wanted to pursue a master’s degree in the field, focusing on clinical counseling through experiential therapies. I was accepted to the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work. What drew me to the program is the school’s well-known and highly respected Institute for Human-Animal Connection, where I’d be able to obtain my Animal Assisted Therapy Certification. Though I had never been to Colorado before, I knew studying there was what I wanted, plus I needed a bit of an adventure after living in the same small town in Maryland my entire life, so I packed up all my things and made the 1,700 mile drive to Denver. I was afforded the opportunity to study what I loved, obtain my Animal Assisted Certification, and meet some truly amazing people, who along with the mountains and breathtaking sites, made me want to make Colorado my home.
