Lindsay Melka

Most people, at one time or another, realize they need some help. It takes a lot of courage to ask for help, especially when we feel hopeless, flawed or unlovable. Through counseling, you can learn how let go of unhelpful beliefs and attitudes about yourself and feel comfortable in your own skin.

My Approach

I know we can’t make the best decisions when we feel ashamed, self-critical or fearful. I know the best thing people can do for themselves is to reach out and get honest feedback from someone with an objective perspective. I love working with clients who have struggled because I’ve been through it myself. I have a deep understanding of that it’s like to feel hopeless, inadequate, addicted, different, etc. because I’ve lived it. AND.. I have found my way through. I believe it is because of my personal experiences that I am able to connect with people on a very real and intimate level. With counseling, you can learn to feel what its like to feel good again, to feel heard, and to be accepted.

My Background

After completing my Master's degree from Mount Mary University in Wisconsin in 2007, I moved to Maui, HI where I worked as a substance abuse counselor for four years. I obtained licensure as a psychotherapist in Denver, Colorado and have worked both in agency settings and private practice for the past 5 years. I have had the privilege of working with people from various backgrounds with unique challenges, and feel honored that my clients have shown significant growth and improvement during treatment.
