Elizabeth Asta

Reaching out for help can be tough. People seek therapy for many reasons, to make changes or process difficult experiences. My goal is to provide a safe space for my clients, help them better understand themselves, and it is essential to me that my clients feel heard and accepted in our work.

My Approach

You are the expert in your life and I want to help you move in a direction that feels best for you. I honor the range of identities (gender, ethnicity, sexuality, etc.) and strengths that you bring to therapy. My approach to therapy is collaborative, warm, and active. I can provide a spectrum of structure to unstructured sessions, depending on the needs of my client. Many of my past/current clients find it useful to have some kind of goal to reflect on, practice, or explore in between sessions and we often co-create those goals together. I enjoy working with a variety of concerns, but most often work with food and body image concerns, anxiety, trauma, depression and relationship issues. I also provide gender affirming therapy and gender confirmation support letters. I utilize a variety of approaches, but often incorporate work from Interpersonal process therapy (IPT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Feminist Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

My Background

I continue to have a lot of passion and connection to my work, and have enjoyed the variety of roles I have held over the years. I have worked in private practice, college mental health, intensive outpatient eating disorder treatment, and neuropsychological assessment settings. I have past experience working with therapists in training and providing supervision. In my 12 years of practice, I have worked with a wide range of concerns, both in short term and long-term treatment lengths. I received my doctorate from Colorado State University in Counseling Psychology, and have continued to receive ongoing education in a range of areas to maintain my education and knowledge base.
