Donna Johnson

Sharing your story with someone new is an act of courage, and a good fit (“click”) is crucial for the unique relationship of therapy to be helpful. For these reasons, I emphasize authenticity, trust, and humor in my work with teens (14 and older), adults, couples, and families.

My Approach

Relationships are central to our well-being – relationships at home, school, and work, and the relationships we have with ourselves. No topic or concern is off-limits in therapy, including all aspects of sexuality. My focus is clients’ goals, and I draw on evidence-based practices such as Gottman Method Couples Therapy, mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to assist clients with effectively addressing the impacts of depression, anxiety, and trauma, and navigating the changes that various stages of life bring. By emphasizing your strengths and self-care, I can support you in personal development, healing, and the creation of desired changes.

My Background

My doctoral degree (PhD) in clinical psychology is from the University of Rhode Island, where I conducted research in human sexuality. I grew up in North Dakota and, following graduate school, Minnesota was home for over 20 years before I got really cold and decided to begin a new adventure in Colorado.
