I work with adults facing the challenges of trauma, body image, grief, and anxiety. I work with clients using both verbal psychotherapy and non-verbal methods (art therapy, photography, and writing). Clients I have worked with have found art-making, such as collage, painting, drawing, poetry, as well as photography, productive methods to reduce stress, promote self-awareness, and gain insights about themselves. I also enjoy integrating animal energy– with permission from the client– into our sessions, whether that’s a dog in the office, or being outside with some of the critters. I combine elements from several therapeutic traditions, including a mindfulness framework, which can be helpful for so many of us with racing minds and persistent unhelpful thoughts. I also have a deep interest in sharing an existentialist perspective, so clients will explore how they make meaning in their lives, and how they may do so in the future in a way that is consistent with their core values.
I have done several trainings over the past few years, including the Eating Disorder Intuitive Training, and I became an EDIT Certified Therapist. This training has informed my work with clients when working with issues of self-esteem and body image. I have also completed my certification in Animal-assisted Therapy through the Animal Assisted Therapy Programs of Colorado, in Lakewood, CO. I regularly incorporate work with animals as healers, teachers and comforters, in my clinical practice. I have completed training in Applied Existential Psychotherapy at the Boulder Psychotherapy Institute in Boulder, CO. This training has informed my work on multiple levels. I have also done Judy Weiser's PhotoTherapy Techniques Training Workshop, and often incorporate phototherapy into my work with clients.
