Aviva Bannerman

I work from the belief that all people are doing the best they can with the tools that they have. We can work together to update your toolbox, uncover patterns that no longer serve you, and process personal material that might be holding you back.

My Approach

What if you could feel comfortable being you? What if there were room for you to feel your feelings, make mistakes, experiment with different ways of showing up in the world? I value providing this space for my clients. Together, we will spend time building a trusting relationship that feels safe and supportive, creating the strong foundation needed for deep personal work. From there, we can gently poke at your issues, allowing difficult feelings to come forth, be felt, and become transformed into insight and healing. As your therapist, I commit to stepping into your world and traveling alongside you on your journey. I will be a cheerleader and a challenger, encouraging you to feel into the discomfort and learn to not only accept, but also appreciate the more difficult parts of your experience.

My Background

I have an MA in Somatic Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Body Psychotherapy from Naropa University. I have specialized in working with women at a women's center and a shelter for homeless women. I have also worked with a diverse population of low-income clients at a Medicaid clinic. Additionally, I specialize in trauma work, doing psychedelic-assisted trauma therapy with the use of cannabis and ketamine at a clinic in Lakewood.
