Racial Identity

Racial identity is an important piece in of our lives, typically described as a group of people identified as distinct from other groups because of physical or genetic traits. Our racial identity is an important identifier that is constructed by multiple factors, often more than just racial group membership alone. Because of the emphasis our society places on race, understanding racial identity is important and should be addressed appropriately by the mental health professional you choose to work with therapeutically.
