Psychoanalysis

Psychoanalysis was founded by Sigmund Freud in the late 19th century and is based on the premise that unconscious conflicts form the the root of psychological issues. A central theme in psychoanalysis is to release repressed emotions and experiences-making the unconscious conscious. Common problems treated with psychoanalysis include fears and phobias, anxiety, depression, obsessions, sexual dysfunction, and relationship problems.
