Narcissistic Personality Disorder

Narcissistic Personality Disorder is personality disorder that is more commonly found in men and likely involves a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Symptoms include an excessive need for admiration, a sense of entitlement, disregard for others’ feelings, lack of empathy, envious behavior and feelings of grandiosity. It is important that this disorder be diagnosed by a professional. The word narcissist has been used more regularly in pop-psychology and so it is important for those struggling with this disorder to be properly assessed and treated by a qualified mental health provider. A trained specialist can help them find ways to manage and cope with any issues that ensue as a result of living with narcissistic personality disorder.

First off, narcissism is not a disorder, it is a defensive response to trauma or the result of betrayal early in life. I help men and women work through their defenses and help you find meaning in your story. Then we work together to develop skills to reengage in the relationships that are meaningful for you.

Individual Therapy

I do not work with people that have NPD. But I have a good understanding of NPD and what abusive behaviors look like and I can help people that are living with someone who is a narcissist, whether it's a parent, partner, or child.
