Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar Disorder is a mental illness that causes dramatic shifts in a person’s mood, energy level, and ability to think clearly. People with bipolar disorder can experience high and low moods-known as mania (extreme euphoria) and depression (sad and hopeless) -which differ from a more common type of mood swing. People with bipolar may experience periods of unusually intense emotion, changes in sleep patterns and activity levels and strange behaviors. The causes of BPD are not always clear. Signs often start in ones early teens or twenties. Proper diagnosis and treatment can help people with bipolar disorder lead healthy and productive lives.
